(7)Jeanette Santiago. Wild Girl On the loose

Updated: Jun 23

Hey everyone!

Well, the last few days started with gloom for us in the United States. Its very sad but its what happened.

On the morning of January 29th, we awoke to the horrific images of an airplane exploding near the Ronald Regan airport in Washington, D.C. It was really heartbreaking to see. It was American Eagle Airlines flight 5342, landing from Wichita, Kansas, which collided with a US Army helicopter. Now, I know a little bit about aviation. A lot of people called it an American Airlines crash which is technically incorrect, because the flight was a PSA Airlines fllight instead. But PSA  uses the name American under a marketing agreement with the larger, better known international brand. It's like for example if you opened a food store in a far away place without a supermarket and Safeway or Publix, or, in the UK< Tesco or ASDA came to an agreement with you  whereas they allowed you to call yourself Tesco (ASDA< Safeway, etc) Junior and used their logo as long as you only sold products bought from the larger brand. Your store keeps the profits and the "Junior"  band as long as you are buying everything from the larger company before reselling it, thus  both you and the larger company make a profit. The point is, it was a PSA airlines flight, not an American Airlines one. Despite it being known as an American Eagle Airlines flight.

The first question I had when seeing the footage was, what the heck was a helicopter doing flying on an airplane's landing path? Well, someone on airliners.net answered that question for me: some helicopters in the Washington, D.C. area have clearance to fly over both Reagan Airport and Dulles International Airport, which is the one that handles most international airline flights to Washington, D.C. In essence, this was an accident waiting to happen, It did not have to happen, but sometimes things are fixed only after things that did not have to happen did happen. It's sad and its stupid.

The investigation, of course, is just starting. We will know more when a report is released.

Obviously, our deepest condolences go to the 67 who lost their lives and to their  family and friends.

Now, to more happy things to talk about.

The Grammys are here!!!Los Angeles was in a gala mood these days now that the music industry just celebrated the 67th version of the Grammy awards. I hoped for two things: that the performers would not go out of their way to look like Devils or Satan, thus mocking us Christians and also giving the far right ammunition. With the Olympic ceremony and all and , more recently, the Golden Globes, this is starting to happen a bit too often. Also, I hoped they would take a minute or two to remember the victims of the recent L.A. fires.  I mean, they deserve to be remembered. As far as the ceremony itself, Beyonce was nominated again, for "Texas Hold 'Hem" and so was Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift and The Beatles! Who is more legendary than that? A lot of people don't like Billie Eilish since she seems to be anti-Christianity, and I do not blame them but on the other hand, if I was 15 or 20, or 25, and as a young person i thought counter-culture was cool, that's who I'd want to be.

I'm just speaking the truth!

As far as The Beatles....I know our sixth Spice Girl Victoria (lol I know, she's our version of the fifth Beatle, Pete Best!) will love this but, what other group has done what they have done? None. Hit after hit, and this was during the 60s when they were largely devoid of today's technical advances in the studio! I first got hooked with She Loves You even as , at five years old, I didn't understand shit they were saying lol...my dad asked me which one of The Beatles I was, and, after inspecting the album (known in the Americas as The red Album, which was a compilation of their earlier hits), I pointed at Paul because he had the longest hair haha! And so of course, Paul has been my favorite Beatle since then. Not even other great bands like KISS, Menudo, Duran Duran or Green day-and certainly not The Rolling Stones-achieved what The Beatles achieved.

They were nominated for an album named Now and Then which was released in November, 2023, but due to date rules at the awards, qualifies for the "Album of the Year" award in  2025.

Marvelous!!

Well, in the end, Beyonce won album of the year for "Cowboy Carter"! Beyonce is a legend and this just proves it further. She is talented, beautiful and a great singer. i'll be honest, when Beyonce was younger, when she was like 25, i day dreamed about doing that sassy bitch front and back and every which way! Chocolate does taste great, after all! And, let's not forget, she was in one of history's greatest girl groups, Destiny's Child, although for my taste, their main competitors of the time, TLC, were better. I mean you know, "Creep", "Waterfalls" and all, Destiny's Child was good and all with "Say My name?" and all, but TLC was off the charts. This goes to show that one group may be  better but the other may be the one who launches a legend. Beyonce became the first African American person to win  the award!

Well, and Chapell Roan won for best new artist! Chapelle is 26 now so I am allowed to say she is a hottie! But I have to ask her, if you read this Chappie, and I know some of your celebrities might read this because you are all secretly perverts...anyways  girl, what the heck were you dressed as? It looks like you were trying to look like a wizard, but people were really not impressed by the outfit? I mean, when you were walking towards the main stage to pick your award, there was a guy in the crowd who had such a face of disgust! I would too, girlfriend...I'm sorry but the dress designer's did not make you look like a wizard but like a clown with a very large white hat instead. A hat which, by the way, looked like one worn by members of the type of groups that proliferated in the American South and Midwest back in the day. Not a great look at all. Also, looking at it, you see, things like these are part of the reason many Christians say Hollywood celebrates Satanism and all that! Not cool at all. Oh, and her hat fell off as she was accepting the award, although I admit, she managed that with grace.

She also went on a gutsy tirade against record labels, talking about how they don't provide artists with health insurance. Being that she depends on record labels to release her music, I have to say, she may not have the best fashion designers, but she has guts!!! Major guts at that! I admire that!

Kendrick Lamar is on a hot streak! He won best Song for :"Not Like Us" (was he singing about aliens? animals? people without sex in their minds? Who is not like us, Kendrick?) and he will be featured in the Super Bowl in a few days. Marvelous!

Other winners included Doechi for the rap album "Alligator Bites Never Heal" (Best Rap Album), Sabrina Carpenter for "Short n Sweet" (Best Pop Vocal Album, with a name that suggests the way some of us like it!) and for "Espresso" (Best Solo Performance) , and Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Love Me Julie and Joe Batiste.

Marvelous, Marvelous!!!

I keep hearing a lot of great things about Doechi, but I have to ask...what the hell was Doechi wearing on her head?? It looked like a mini toy bicycle or  a frog, or like someone dropped a chocolate milkshake on her head. She needs to hire a better hairdresser! On the positive side, she thanked God for her win, so not everything is bad!

I was a bit disappointed that Eminem did not win for "Death of Marshall Mathers" in the Best Rap Album category. Even though he has said homophobic shit in the past, Emimen is da' bomb! Ok, I hate rap, but he is my favorite rapper because he brought a lot of social matters to mainstream society and usually sang his truth. I respected that and he is one of the few rap artists I can actually listen to. Thanks to him, ral shadys are still standing up worldwide. But sadly, it seems his era, like in the case also of Marilyn Manson, has been gone for 25 years.

As far as Manson, well....I was never a big fan of his music or what he seemingly stood for, but I liked that he too, stood against human authority.

Grammy cool: Lady Gaga said "Trans People are not Invisible!"  Thank you for that, Lady! Grammy not so cool: Chris Brown keeps getting nominated...how a woman beater keeps getting nominated is beyond me.

Wow! So much to unload about this week! I tell ya, sometimes a girl needs to talk!

I'll just leave right now by saying, who knows what's up next week1 As always, God loves you and so do we! Keep on returning, you all!

Jeanette
